Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)
If you see your GP or psychiatrist for a Mental Health Care Plan, you’ll be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $145.20 per session for up to 10 sessions each calendar year.
DVA (Department of Veterans’ Affairs)
If you’re a military veteran, DVA will cover the cost of mental health treatment through a 12-session allied health cycle, with referrals made by your GP.
NDIS (Self-Managed)
Services at AP Psychology can be accessed if you are self-managing or plan-managing your NDIS funds. In these cases, you can use your funding to pay for therapy sessions directly. AP Psychology is not a registered provider through NDIS.
Private Health Funds
You’re also welcome to book as a full-fee paying client without a referral. This option allows flexibility and privacy.
Some private health funds offer rebates for psychology sessions. After each session, you will be sent an invoice, which you can then submit directly to your health fund. Rebates depend on your level of cover.

When appointments are booked, the clinician reserves the whole time especially for you. To respect this, the following cancellation policy is in place:
We require 48 business hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel a session without incurring fees. This allows us to offer the time to another client who may be waiting.
Cancellation fees:
0–24 hours’ notice: Full fee applies
24–48 hours’ notice: 50% of the fee applies
If we are able to reallocate your appointment time to another client, you will not be charged.
Please note that cancellation fees are not eligible for rebates through Medicare, private health funds, DVA, or NDIS, and must be paid at your own expense.
If you are unable to attend in person, you may choose to have your session via telehealth (phone or video). This can often be a helpful alternative and avoids the need for cancellation fees.
You may call our office at any time, including after hours, and leave a message on our answering service. We will return your call as soon as possible.
A late cancellation impacts three people:
The client who is delaying their therapy progress
Another client who may be waiting for an appointment
The clinician who has prepared for the session
